National All Breeds Show relocates to the Dairy Event and Livestock Show

15 November 2010

The Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers and Holstein UK have announced that the National All Breeds Show will from 2011 be incorporated in to the Dairy Event and Livestock Show to be held on Tuesday 6 and Wednesday 7 September at The NEC, Birmingham.

The joint agreementmade by the two event’s organisers will see the National All Breeds classes move from the February event to replace the existing dairy classes organised by RABDF at its Dairy Event and Livestock Show. The February event will no longer take place.

“We look forward to welcoming the National All Breeds Show to the Dairy Event and Livestock Show and our agreement with Holstein UK demonstrates how two organisations can work together for the overall benefit of the dairy industry,” commented RABDF chief executive, Nick Everington.

“Cattle exhibitors will not only enjoy the modern airy Livestock Hall at The NEC with its improved facilities, but also the opportunity to expand the cow, heifer and calf classes for all the breeds, which will be managed by Holstein UK. The National All Breeds Show will also have a significantly larger audience - 16,000 visitors representing 75% of the UK’s cows attended the Dairy Event and Livestock Show in September at its new venue, The NEC which provides easy access by road and rail. Furthermore, the Livestock Hall is just a 15 minute undercover walkaway from Birmingham airport.

“For visitors the National All Breeds Show will provide an added spectacle, while the supply sector will appreciate consolidation of events within the calendar.”

Holstein UK’s chairman, Tom Phillips said: “The board of Holstein UK have taken note of all breeders’ views and are delighted to be able to offer the opportunity to showcase our genetics in a modern day environment. I am pleased that the cooperation of the board of RABDF, Nick Everington and his team has provided us with an opportunity to establish one of the best dairy cattle exhibitions in Europe.”
