RABDF cautiously welcomes RCS proposals

14 December 2010

The Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers has expressed a cautious welcome to the recommendations published by Rosemary Radcliffe’s advisory group on Responsibility and Cost Sharing (RCS) in England.

“We agree to a partnership approach between Defra and the industry, simply because the current arrangements are not working,” says the association’s chairman, David Cotton. “However the biggest challenge will be to appoint 12 people to the partnership board who will have the breadth of knowledge required to make important and in some instances, unsavoury decisions.

“Furthermore this is an England only decision – animal health is a devolved issue, and clearly the situation has to be resolved for Wales and Scotland.”
