RABDF urges RMMB funding supports youngsters
10 March 2011
The Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers has proposed that the Residuary Milk Marketing Board’s (RMMB) £176k of assets should be designated towards helping young farmers in England and Wales enter the sector.
Responding to Defra’s consultation document on the RMMB’s assets disposal, RABDF chairman, David Cotton said: “As an independent charitable organisation representing British dairy farmers, we recommend the £176,000 of funding is set up as the basis of a bursary to encourage and help the next generation of newcomers to dairy farming who will contribute new ideas and impetus to our industry’s future.” He adds: “We also welcome interest from other like minded organisations who would be prepared to support our proposal.”
