Record attendance at RABDF/BGS/DairyCo Farm Walk
13 April 2011
A total of 260 visitors attended an open day at Duckspool Farm, Wiston, Haverfordwest on Tuesday 12 April, a record number of attendees for a Milking Grass for Profit farm walk jointly organised by RABDF, BGS and DairyCo. Hosts, Nigel James and his son, Rhys manage a 300 cow herd projected to yield 4,000 litres this year from 500kg to 600kg concentrate. Since purchasing the 138ha (340 acre) unit with 115ha (283 acres) of farmable land in summer 2009, the partners have invested in a new 25:50 herringbone parlour, woodchip pad, fencing and 3km of cow tracks.
