Training and Events

RABDF places a great deal of importance on the subject of training, often referred to as the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and competencies as a result of teaching.

The need for continuous training or professional development is now recognised by many people across a wide range of occupations. The dairy sector is no different from any other industry and with the enormous structural changes taking place at present, there is an even greater need for on-going training to ensure all those involved are kept up to date with developments.

Training can be delivered by a number of methods: on-the-job training has a general reputation as being most effective for vocational work, whereas off-the-job training has the advantage that it allows people to get away from work and concentrate more thoroughly on the training itself. RABDF strongly supports this type of training as it has been proven to be more effective in developing concepts and stimulating ideas.

The association regularly transfers knowledge to farmers through college lecturers' days, open days, technical farm walks and specialist events i.e. Livestock Event Incorporating Dairy Event.
