Situated in the fertile Tywi valley, three miles from Llandeilo and 14 miles from Carmarthen, the main focus at the campus is to prepare students for a range of landbased countryside studies and agricultural engineering occupations. The campus is a purpose-built complex which is also home to the 211 hectare college farm.
The teaching block is situated adjacent to the farm in pleasant and enjoyable surroundings and resources include the latest in IT technology, science laboratories and a well equipped library/learning centre. There are over 400 milking cows split into two herds of 200 matched cows allowing an evaluation of two separate herd management strategies.
The combination of excellent teaching, commercial farming and technical transfer has led to Gelli Aur being recognised as the Centre of Excellence for landbased studies in Wales.
