University of Nottingham

Agriculture and Animal Science courses are taught in the School of Biosciences at the University of Nottingham Sutton Bonington Campus. The campus is situated 12 miles south of Nottingham, in a rural setting. The campus is home to over 2,500 students from the Schools of Biosciences and Veterinary Medicine, which creates a place where it’s easy to get to know your fellow students and teaching teams, yet part of a wider global community. A free hopper bus connects Sutton Bonington and University Park Campuses, and the Nottingham tram network.

Undergraduate (BSc and MSci) courses ideally suited to young people interested in the dairy industry include Agriculture, Agricultural and Livestock Science, Integrated Agricultural Business Management, Animal Science, Environmental Biology, and Environmental Science. Details of each course are available through the links at  https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/biosciences/study/ug/courses.aspx

Students who already have a relevant degree might be interested in our MSc Animal Nutrition, which is designed to train graduates for the animal feed industry, consultancy or research. Details can be found at  https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/pgstudy/course/taught/Animal-Nutrition-MSc

Our Agriculture courses were ranked number 1 in the Complete University Guide 2020 for the third year running. We hold a Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) Gold award, which is awarded to institutions that consistently deliver outstanding teaching, learning and outcomes for their students.

Sutton Bonington Campus is home to the University Farm and Dairy Centre. The farm is commercially run, with facilities for research and teaching. Farm staff contribute to the teaching on our degree programmes.

The Centre for Dairy Science Innovation (CDSI) offers the latest research technologies for studying a range of dairy-related topics and was Winner of the High-Tech Farm Award 2019 British Dairying Cream awards.
