Women in Dairy - Devon and Cornwall

  • Leedstown Village Hall Carsize Lane Hayle, England, TR27 6EN United Kingdom (map)

Are you making best use of antibiotics in your herd?

The Devon and Cornwall group invites you to a discussion with Devon farm vet Andrew Biggs on the use of antibiotics in dairy cows, particularly in the treatment of mastitis and as part of dry cow therapy. We are more and more aware of the need to consider the use of antibiotics and how,  through better practice on farms,  we may be able to reduce our reliance on it.   Andy will be interested to hear about your thoughts on the subject and practices on your farm.

Andy Biggs is a farm vet and partner with Vale Vets based in Tiverton. Andy acts as an international consultant on mastitis, tuberculosis and cattle health in general and travels the world talking on these subjects. He has also set up and runs a mastitis laboratory as part of the practice. Last year we was awarded BVA's most prestigious scientific award for his exemplary service to the veterinary profession and, in particular, his national and international level contribution to clinical practice in cattle health and welfare.
