The Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers (RABDF) is warning of a tough winter ahead for dairy farmers as the gap between farmgate milk and retail prices and high input costs adds significant financial pressure.

Over 600 visitors made the trip to visit the Logan Family’s Gold Cup Open Day, held in Northen Ayrshire last week (10 Aug).

Business training course, Entrepreneurs in Dairying, run by the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers, has opened to applicants ahead of its start in October.

RABDF’s two regenerative Down to Earth events saw record numbers of visitors through their gates, held on 21 June and 6 July, the high visitor numbers highlight the need for knowledge transfer of this kind in an ever-evolving, environmental focused world.

The RABDF has today (11 July) welcomed details released by the government on regulations set to come into force later this year that will help ensure supply contracts in the dairy sector are fair and transparent, meaning farmers are paid appropriately for their produce.

The Soil Associations' Head of Policy, Rob Percival, called on the government to double farm budgets to support regen farming in the UK, as he addressed almost 1,000 visitors at the award-winning regenerative farming event Down to Earth North last week.
