DEFRA Update

Good afternoon,

Following ministerial changes and recent media speculation on the future of farming policy in England, we have re-enforced our commitment to the environment alongside food production.

Please read our post on Defra's media blog which sets out our response and position. There is also a link to the ministerial appointments and the governments Growth plan.

Sustainable Farming Incentive

We would be very grateful if you could continue promoting the Sustainable Farming Incentive: full guidance to your members and customers.  Below, I have provided a link to our blog update, application portal and a really helpful leaflet that can be printed and distributed to farmers and land managers:

Please read our recent blog post - Sustainable Farming Incentive: more farmers can apply without being invited

Upcoming FAS webinar

The Farming Advisory Service are hosting a webinar ‘Further planning for change – Panel discussion on navigating farming support schemes in 2023’ which will take place on Monday  24th October 19:00–20:30 (Please click here to register for the event).  Richard King (Partner and Head of Business Research at The Anderson Centre) will be joined by members of the FAS and Defra’s Future Farming and Countryside Programme teams to answer questions and discuss some common queries about how future farming support schemes can fit into farm business planning.
