Research opportunity: Improving the future of agricultural plastic waste in the UK.
I am seeking insights from UK farmers across all enterprises on current disposal methods, the feasibility of transitioning to sustainable alternatives, and the barriers in which farmers face when disposing of their agricultural plastics. The aim is to capture where the current system is failing and what support farmers need to make recycling feasible.
Have your say in dairy technology survey
Digital tools and sensors, including wearable devices that monitor dairy cows 24/7, are now widely available. But just how many dairy farms use precision livestock farming (PLF) technologies and, crucially, to what extent information from these technologies is being used regularly and reliably to support on-farm decision-making is still relatively unknown.

Dissertation: The Role of Professional Identity in Regenerative Dairy Farming
Sophie Foster, a third-year Geography student at the University of Exeter, is conducting research for her dissertation exploring how professional identity shapes decision-making and perspectives on the future of regenerative dairy farming. Her research focuses on knowledge-sharing and collaboration within farming communities and networks.
Sophie is seeking responses from dairy farmers through a short online survey (10–15 minutes). Farmers don’t need to be farming regeneratively to participate—any insights into their experiences and views are highly valued and appreciated.
The survey is anonymous, with no personal details collected unless participants choose to opt into a follow-up interview and/or receive the anonymised results.
If you would like to take part, please follow this link: Take the Survey Here.

Dissertaton: To what extent and under what conditions do British Farmers influence the policy making process
Lucy Lawrie, a fourth year history and politics student at the University of Edinburgh is writing a dissertation - To what extent and under what conditions do British Farmers influence the policy making process.
She is hoping to conduct a series of semi-structured interviews with individuals who are involved in the policy decisions which effect farming and agriculture.
Lucy would love to engage with anyone willing to take part in a short 20 minute interview over the phone in January 2025 - where she will ask you some questions about how agricultural policy decisions reflect the needs of the industry.
If its something you would be willing to consider please contact Lucy by email lucylawrie15@icloud.com .
