Have your say: What’s really driving carbon mitigation practices on farm?

The UK dairy sector is under increasing pressure to meet Net Zero targets under the Climate Change Committee framework. However, policy discussions often focus on technical solutions and overlook the real-world challenges farmers face.

My name is Helena Hext, and I am a BSc Agri-Business student at Harper Adams University, I am conducting my Honours Research Project on the adoption of carbon mitigation strategies in UK dairy systems.

This research puts farmers at the centre. It explores your perceptions, motivations, and the practical constraints that influence decisions on farm. The findings aim to inform more realistic, farmer-informed policy and industry guidance.

The survey takes just 5–10 minutes to complete. Participation is entirely anonymous and voluntary, and all data will be handled in line with university GDPR guidelines.

Your experience matters. By taking part, you will help ensure that future policy and advisory support better reflects the realities of English dairy farming.

Thank you in advance for your time and contribution.
